This design was specially commissioned by the Japanese government to mark the designation of traditional woodblock printing as an “intangible cultural property” (無形文化財). As the foremost print designer of the time, Hasui was responsible for the overall production. Attached to the verso is an official seal indicating that this is impression no. 125 (of an unknown edition).
